Hey, I'm David Stuart.

I partner with networks, agencies, non-profit organizations, and brands of all sizes to transform how they create, manage, and distribute original entertainment and branded content to audiences at scale.

We've never known so much about people and understood them less. If we're going to build more meaningful connections, we need to stretch our understanding of what moves people and why. Not only through data, but by understanding the cultural, emotional, and psychological drivers that motivate behavior.

As a producer with a background in psychology and strategic operations, I understand that adaptive systems and processes are a key element to sustained creative success. I also know that effective systems are built not just on technology, but on a clear understanding of human needs and business outcomes.

For most brands, storytelling is little more than a catch phrase. In actuality, it's a research-proven differentiator that transforms cold data into warm, powerful, actionable experiences. But to craft consistently effective media, we must apply the science of human behavior to the art of media creation.

Where I unite research, strategy, and creativity to better understand the cultural, emotional, and psychological drivers that influence consumer behavior; guide teams on how to use those insights to craft emotionally powerful experiences; and use decades of production experience to execute on that creative vision. Because research proves unequivocally, that media that makes people feel more, goes on to deliver more: attention, connection, viewership, market share, pricing power, profit.

The six essentials of immersive storytelling that guide my work:

1. Attention

Effective media grabs people's attention. It opens with a powerful hook that drops people into an action packed moment or an intense emotional scene, or generates curiosity about an intriguing character or situation and keeps them wanting more.

2. Stakes

In compelling storytelling, a character's choice must profoundly impact their life, relationships, and the world around them. This weight of consequence is what makes the story resonate with customers and drive action.

3. Suspense

Suspense, in some form, is the secret weapon for creating sustained consumer engagement. It puts the audience in a state of simultaneous curiosity and anxiety. It's not the ticking bomb, but the vital question that keeps consumers watching because they need an answer.

4. The Unexpected

This is not just a random plot twist, it's a believable, consequential occurrence that feels surprising in the moment, but inevitable in retrospect. It's a surprise that breaks the pattern and transforms a campaign from predictable, to memorable and shareable.

5. Transformation

Campaigns that stand out — that drive measurable, commercial results — create change. They show a character facing an obstacle and demonstrate how your brand helps them overcome that obstacle and experience positive change.

6. Heart

Story is one of the most powerful tools we have as marketers. If we make it personal, authentic, and emotionally honest, people will connect with you and follow you. But don't tell just any story — let's find the story only your brand can tell.
